One of my new years resolutions was to be more honest in my reviews. Pros: Waitress was very nice, salsa was good, prices were lowCons: Pretty limited menu. The only thing that comes on the tacos just about are the meat you get, some chopped onion, and cilantro. On the fish one, you get cabbage, too. The waitress said the chorizo comes with pineapple as well. The taco shells are the corn ones you get at the grocery, and they don't cook them in any way. For a restaurant named, "the griddle" I'd think they would throw the tacos on there. Pero, que yo se? So, when I really reflected, the prices were low because they should have been. You don't get a whole lot. I rank it 3 stars because it was okay. I probably won't go there again, but if someone asks about it I won't tell them not to go there. Everyone at the bar seemed very happy, though, so maybe the ritas are good.
This was one of the best meals we have had in recent memory. What nicely and carefully cooked food! Great ingredients. Delicious house-made sauces. Service was friendly and just so attentive. Kudos!
I could eat here every day. The tacos are great, the empanadas are great, the street corn is addictive. The atmosphere is chill and comfortable. The margaritas are everything. You need to try it.
Great food and service. Please ask Blake the bartender for a Paloma or a “Don Miguel” Tequila Oldfashion drink. He is the best!
Some of the best food Like home cooking Great service Very friendly folks
One of my favorites on the island. Fresh and delicious, especially the Colombian dishes! House margaritas are cheap and so good!
It was sooo good. Everything was fresh and homemade. Great price! Great taste! Great people!
Really great food and service!! Loved the decorations!
The place was busy at 1:30 so are queso dip never came before our meal so we just asked for it to be taken off the bill. Getting our drinks to almost as long as our lunch. The quesadilla was delicious but they forgot the beans and rice that comes with it. Once I got the rice and bean they too was delicious. Our bill came and the queso dip was still on it so I asked again for it to be taken off then the waitress ran my credit card for another table. Twenty minutes later and we we're finally able to leave. Considering the place just opened and it was lunch time I can overlook all the time it took and the mess ups. Most importantly, I'd eat herw again.
The food is wonderful. The staff is fantastic. I highly recommend this place!
I eat here pretty often. Small place - but the food is very good — waiting staff is wonderful.
My partner and I were staying in St. Simon's for a long weekend and were told to try this place. We went on a Friday during Happy Hour and sat at the bar, ordered the daily special (quesadilla with chicken, shrimp, and steak) and 1 full margarita each and 1 to share. It was hands-down the best quesadilla I've ever had, and the margaritas were strong! We had the same bartender every day who gave us great service (unfortunately I can't remember his name). We enjoyed it so much that we visited every day for the rest of our vacation!
Just go. You'll figure it out. Quality food.
Not exactly what I would call authentic, the food was pretty good, but I was underwhelmed with the quality to cost.
Great staff and great food
Nice, comfortable local place with authentic food and great margaritas
Columbian food in St Simons! The plancha plate with steak, columbian chorizo black beans and rice was killer delicious. The flavor of the steak kept me going back for more. The best thing ever is the chorizo never had such good flavor in sausage and wonderfully moist. It’s on eat again list!
At at this nice quaint restaurant on St. Simons. I was looking for something other than seafood. I saw where this restaurant had great reviews. It was very good. I had their unique quesadilla stuffed with chicken. It was delicious and very filling. I also got a side of their very tasty and unique corn. It is not corn on the cobb but cut corn with mexican cheese and other unique flavors. Very very good. The waitress was extremely helpful, friendly and great attitude. For a rainy Sunday night, there was a good crowd there. Always a good sign the locals like it too! )) I highly recommend La Plancha. I hope to visit again soon.
What a treasure of restaurant! While biking with my wife on a weekend get away, the Colombian flag outside initially drew us in. I never expected to find Colombian food in saint simon, but boy were we impressed! The empanadas were crispy and savory, the plantains and yuca were so fresh and fantastic! My compliments to the chef, the sauces were something I’d expect to find at fine establishment in Cartagena. They were traditional with just enough creativity to make them fresh and intriguing! Prices were very fair and the service was top notch! Stop by and grab the appetizer sampler and you can’t go wrong. We will have to return to sample some more of the multi cultural menu. All this paisa can say is fantastico!
A great local spot. Simple food done right with flavors that are well balanced. Portion sizes are perfect not glutinous. The place is small and intimate.
Absolutely delicious food that is cooked with care. The staff is amazing and so attentive. Brandon was fantastic. The sauces are delicious.
They were busy but the staff handled it well. La plancha is a small place with plenty of spirit. The person behind the bar had a beautiful personality. She answer questions with responsez that made me smile. I had the 3 season ground beef tacos with rice and beans. Also added a margarita. The meal was great...can't wait to try more entrees. The couple next to me had the beef quesadillas. They really looked delicious! The price with tip was $26.
Small cozy place, tasty and not exactly typical menu items. Quick service, good food.
The "general manager " was extremely rude....The food was mediocre. I would not recommend
Favorite Mexican Restaurant on the Island. Love all the vegetarian options which is a very rare option for restaurants on St. Simons. The food is delicious. The Yucca fries are an unusual yet delightful appetizer. Maragaritas are tasty.
I gave it four stars because I haven't had many items on the menu so can't really give a good opinion on the menu items. What I can say is the Pozole pork soup is fantastic. That is what I order when I go.
I visited La Plancha for the first time yesterday with a friend, and we both left 100% satisfied. We were greeted immediately when we walked into the restaurant by a friendly hostess who sat us quickly. She brought our drinks and chips and salsa in a timely manner as well. We received our food and we were blown away by the flavors! It was honestly the best chicken quesadilla I have ever had. La Plancha boast that they use authentic ingredients and after one bite I believe them. I would highly recommend La Planch to anyone who is looking for reasonably priced, quick, authentic Mexican food.
Holy Smokes! Good, good, good. I tried a veggy taco, a carnita taco & a shrimp taco. All we great! Refried black beans & rice come with it. Wow. My husband had the mahi tacos & thought the were great. Had guacamole as well. Wonderful. Can't wait to try more!
Food and staff were great. The shrimp tacos, street corn, and beans were all really good. The guacamole was amazing!
Excellent food and service, the Arnold Palmers were delicious.
Excellent food, excellent service, comfortable atmosphere
OMG! Took a trip to flavor town. Staff very friendly, love the limited menu. What they do they are perfect at. My new number one place.Went back again today. Great service and outstanding food. Took my out of town family and they loved it
La Plancha is a hidden gem! I’ve come to the island for years and just discovered it. I will return. Every component of the meal was thoughtfully prepared and very flavorful. The Pork Mojo was especially good. Thank you!
Awesome food and great staff!
Amazing tacos, ‘ritas, and service.
The place is relatively new still and looks good and clean. Been here a few times. Tried the chicken potato soup today and was not disappointed. A very tasty broth with alot of chicken breast and small white whole potatoes made it filling and so good. Served with capers and sour cream. I associate capers with other foods so didn't touch those but the soup really didn't need anything. The only side I would have liked would have been a soft shell tortilla to clean the bowl and not send back any broth! Good island mexican food, will come back!
Tuesday’s special is the toco sampler...these folks are doing Mexican food right! No Tex-Mex here! Great margaritas and good service.
Fabulous food and service!
Best in town . I had the pleasure of eating here for lunch on 1/30/2019. i even got my meal to-go thirty minutes later i ate it was still warm and the best food of its kind by far. They place everything separately nothing becomes soggy or runs together. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a south of the border experience. thanks again lml
I love Mexican food, and this is the best place in St Simons or anywhere nearby. The food is great, the service is great, and there is a nice informal atmosphere. And the prices can’t be beat. They have always had great tacos(chicken, roasted pork, grilled steak, short rib, fish, veggie, and ground beef). There is a wonderful side dish - Elotes, Mexican street corn. I order it every time I go. They have the best chips and guacamole I have ever had anywhere. Although primarily Mexican, they have recently added some dishes from Columbia. I had the oxtail stew and it was fabulous. Also, great margaritas.
This place is fantastic! Great presentation, friendly service, really good food with large portions. Half price drinks 3 - 6 p.m. daily. Fundito dip was very tasty with Crowd Control Brew and a Margarita made with line juice and agave nectar. Steak fajitas and Cuban Pork Mojo were soooooo good. We had enough for leftovers for another meal.
Awesome tacos. We got takeout from here two nights in a row. I loved the veggie tacos and my husband loved the chicken tacos. The salsa is a little spicy and really good!
So freaking good!!! My bf got traditional street tacos with carnitas. I just ordered the first 3 tacos on the list, so I have chicken, pork, and steak. Each one had different toppings with it, and they were all fantastic! Also had the jalepeno cucumber margarita. Sounds weird, but so good and refreshing. And don't forget to order the chorizo queso!!
Very pricey... not very much food for $17.22...the tortillas were gummy... the meat was bland... the rice and beans were terrible... the food was cold...2 stars are for the chips, salsa, and queso.
You get a lot of food, delicious server was great
Great food, takeout is definitely available. Very authentic tasting. Staff was friendly. Reasonably priced.
It’s a little overpriced but I was always willing to pay because the food is good but they started charging $2 per small basket of chips. Ridiculous! I won’t be back.
Very Very yummy food 😋
Margaritas and quesadilla’s are so good.
Good food and great staff
